from Albany, 01/12/2006

 CORELLE-Care and Cleaning Information

CORELLE is impact resistant glass made by Corning Glass Works, and is stronger than most glass or china products. A drop or hard blow may cause the product to break or become damaged, causing later breakage without apparent reason. Most pieces are microwave safe. Because it is impact-resistant, it may break into many small pieces. Misuse can cause breakage.

Do not use on top of stove, under a broiler or under a browning unit in a microwave oven.

Do not use sugar bowl cover in any oven. Do not add liquid to a hot dish, place hot dish on a wet or cool surface or handle with a wet cloth.

Do not use chipped or cracked ware. Do not caramelize sugar in a microwave oven; this can cause chipping or breakage.

Cleaning Corelle is dishwasher safe. Wash sugar bowl cover on top rack only.

To remove metal or hard water marks, use baking soda on a damp cloth. To remove temporary discoloration, use three tablespoons vinegar to one cup hot water. Let stand. Wash as usual.

Do not use metal scouring pads or harsh cleansers. This article was written by Anne Field, Extension Specialist, Emeritus, with reference from the Corning Glass Works Corporation.
