Disposers may be connected to a septic tank, and have about the same effect as adding an extra person to the family. Food wastes are organic materials which can be digested by the bacteria in the tank. Do NOT put in egg shells or seafood which cannot be digested by the bacteria. Your tank may require cleaning a little sooner than without a disposer connected.
