How do you get dried nail polish out of a rug? (The rug is like a carpet pile.)

Nail Polish removal from a rug or carpet

You cannot get nail polish out of carpet. Whether it is wet or dry is immaterial. You either live with the stain or replace the rug or carpet. I have tried every known "recipe" for getting nail polish out of carpet and nothing works.
