Just wonder if the cabinets around the over the stove microwave could be different color from the rest of the cabinets, or at least different kind of doors, perhaps heve glass doors.

Yes, using cabinets of different colors can actually create a very nice effect in your kitchen. The best way to play with that is to pick 2 contrasting colors. Make the lighter one a dominant color, and use the darker one either for mouldings, or for some cabinets to create a focal point in your kitchen, i.e., over the stove place, which can also be complemented with the same color kitchen island cabinets, or any other spot you would like to accentuate.
